A recent article in the Chronicle of Higher Education found that 56% of students in graduate programs - the majority of which are MBA candidates - had admitted to cheating.
The article notes the competitive nature of the business world, including the fact that many of these students had been in the world of cutthroat business prior to coming to graduate school. The article posits that these students may have picked up a "win at all costs" mentality.
You can see the article here: Download mba_cheaters_article.pdf . We would love to hear from you on this - what do you think about the prevalence of MBA cheaters?
As an educator, I was disheartened to read these results. 56% admitted to cheating? Considering that people often lie on self-reports, the number may even be higher. Yes, we want our students to be successful, but we also want them to be ethical and to succeed on their own merits.
