Governor Ernie Fletcher, in conjunction with ConnectKentucky, recently announced that hundreds of students who would otherwise not be able to afford a computer will be eligible to receive one through a pilot project. Microsoft and Lexmark are donating software and printing supplies respectively, and it sure seems like the program has built up some solid goodwill. To get everyone involved for good measure, the refurbished computers that will have all new software are being built by inmates at Kentucky Correctional Industries.
Sounds like some very good work to this oft-jaded reporter. Check it out here.
